"JOY IS REVOLUTIONARY!" Award-winning neo-classic rock band blending '60s and '70s rock, soul, and funk with a modern edge.
Since forming in 2019, FARROW has crafted a distinctive sound blending rock, soul, and funk, drawing inspiration from the revolutionary spirit of the 1960s and ’70s, combined with a modern edge. FARROW is known for high-energy performances, thought-provoking lyrics, and infectious melodies that embody their mantra: “Joy is Revolutionary!” Led by André Pilette (bass/producer) and Michael Farrow (vocals/lyricist), the band includes Cory Clancy (guitar), Michael Ruopoli (percussion), Rufus “Breezy” Cole, Jr. (keys), Carlton Campbell (drums), Deborah Powell (vocals), and Tamika Kennedy (vocals). FARROW’s music channels the joy and connection that come from shared human experiences, often exploring complex personal and political themes. Their songs are not just music but a call to action, encouraging listeners to move, reflect, and celebrate. FARROW has performed at numerous high-profile venues and festivals, including Borderland Music + Arts Festival, The Great Blue Heron Music Festival, ArtPark, Shea’s Performing Arts Center, Town Ballroom, and Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. Known for their engaging live shows, they’ve shared stages with acts like Trombone Shorty, capturing audiences with their unique blend of rock, soul, and a touch of funk. Their latest album Organize continues to build on their revolutionary spirit, combining grooves and lyrical depth to make each track an exploration of interconnectedness, personal reflection, and collective joy.
“Best Original Music Act of 2024. The members of Neo-Classic Rock band FARROW believe joy is revolutionary—and they’ll make anyone who attends a show believe it, too.” “These guys care, simply put. Whether they’re talking about the Buffalo music scene, the ongoing push-and-pull in a city that still struggles with issues of racism, equality and access, or the ever-present need to strike a balance between the energy of live performance and the quest for perfection in the recording studio, it’s just not possible to indulge in lazy cynicism in their presence. They make you wanna do better. ” “‘All of them will encompass the idea of revolutionary joy,’ Michael Farrow tells me when describing Farrow, and their vision of where their music’s been and where their music’s going. It shows and it shines of course, since Farrow has been a staple here in Western NY for the last several years, taking the music scene here by storm, opening for national acts like Portugal the Man.” “If you want to chill to the sounds of rock and soul, you may want to check out FARROW.”
In December 2023, our drummer and founding band member Tim Webb passed away unexpectedly. Collectively, we were shocked, devastated, and heartbroken. Tim was both a stalwart and a steward of the Buffalo music scene. He was widely respected and deeply loved, and he will be missed dearly. He was the heartbeat of this band. His passing came just as we finished our third album Organize. Alas, it is now his swan song, and his brilliance as a top-notch drummer is all over the record. We got to honor and celebrate our friend during the album release show at Town Ballroom on Friday, January 26, 2024, with several drummers who volunteered to perform in his stead. Tim Webb’s life and legacy are worth celebrating and ain’t nothing gonna steal our joy. Rest in peace and power, Tim.
