JARED TINKHAM is an up-and-coming jazz guitarist and educator based in Western New York. Born in Rochester, NY, Jared earned an Associate’s Degree in Music Performance from Monroe Community College before moving to Buffalo, NY in 2012, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music Education at SUNY Buffalo State College.
Jared currently teaches multiple guitar ensembles, jazz ensemble, and music theory courses at the Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. Jared has had the privilege of studying with and accompanying many incredible artists, including Bob Sneider, Evan Drummond, Mark Filsinger, Anton Machleder, Steve Greene, Craig Snyder, Bobby Millitello, Michael McNeill, John Bacon Jr., Kelly Bucheger, Tim Clarke, Greg Millar, Trigger Gaston, and many more. Jared has performed in several jazz festivals in WNY, including the Lewiston Jazz Festival, Queen City Jazz Festival, Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the Nietzsche’s Jazz Festival.
In 2015, Jared was voted “Best Jazz Guitarist” by Jazz Buffalo. He currently resides in Buffalo, NY, where he gigs frequently and maintains a private guitar studio.
