Understand your role and learn the formula for “getting the call” with a pro bassist, guitarist, touring performer (Mac Ayres, Cautious Clay, Aqueous), composer, and songwriter (Brasstracks).

During this monthly workshop, pro bassist Declan Miers focuses on how professionalism, etiquette on the bandstand, being mindful of your surroundings, and “getting in where you fit in” has helped him make the cut as a touring musician and session player—and how they can help you do the same.

Ages & Skill Levels

  • This workshop is aimed at aspiring artists ages 11 and up
  • Beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels are welcome

Schedule & Price

  • This monthly workshop is currently conducted virtually
  • Normally scheduled for the second Thursday of each month from 7:00pm–8:00pm
  • The price is $12 per person
  • Each workshop is limited to 20 people

DECLAN MIERS is a pro bassist, guitarist, touring performer (Mac Ayres, Cautious Clay, Aqueous), composer, and songwriter (Brasstracks). Pro music credentials include:

  • Professional musician since 2008
  • Studied at Berklee College of Music (full-tuition scholarship)
  • Studied Jazz under George Caldwell at University at Buffalo
  • Toured internationally since 2018 (Mac Ayres, Cautious Clay, Aqueous)
  • Live studio work for Brasstracks at Capitol Studios, LA

Primary musical influences include Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead, Thundercat, Stevie Wonder, Wayne Shorter, J Dilla, Ambrose Akinmusire, Anthony Jackson, Pino Palladino, James Jamerson, Derrick Hodge, Mono Neon, and Burniss Travis.
