Master Classes with Chuckie Campbell

From: $300.00

Host a master class with a pro hip-hop recording artist, poet, fiction writer, editor, publisher, and educator.

All of our master classes run approximately 1 hour and feature an infotainment-style lecture (sometimes including audience participation), with opportunities for discussion and Q&A after. Each artist will coordinate with you to make sure that their content will resonate and connect with YOUR audience based on their interests, ages, and skill levels.

  • Our artists are ready to come to you where you plan to host the master class (within the Buffalo area)
  • Virtual master classes are sometimes possible if necessary (to be discussed with the artist)
  • Once a preferred date is requested below, the artist will coordinate the date and time of the master class with you
  • We will also make sure that all of the necessary bases, like like audio/visual equipment, are covered (some of those bases may require additional fees, which will be discussed prior to confirming the booking)

Available Master Classes

Here are some of Chuckie Campbell’s favorite master classes that are currently prepared:

  • HIP-HOP SONGWRITING. During this master class, Chuckie Campbell explores how the intersections between hip-hop songwriting and literary theory can be used to produce powerful cultural texts for maximum aesthetic impact. A wide range of hip-hop songwriting topics will be covered, including Hemimgway’s “iceberg theory,” using assonance and consonance to create texture, rhythm, and tone, leaving an authentic impact with your message by staying on topic, Flannery O’Connor’s theory on “killing your darlings,” T.S. Eliot’s objective correlative, repetition and melodic motifs in rap music, setting a scene and narrative storytelling in songwriting. The master class also includes some exciting collective and collaborative songwriting exercises we will do together as a group.
  • DIY TOURING. Get ready for the road with this master class, which covers naming and routing your tour, writing booking emails, how to handle different types of booking (house show, promoters, clubs, shows with other artists), getting audience to your shows, hotels, food, packing, mental and physical health on the road, contracts, and getting paid. Master class exercises and offerings also include creating a tour tracking spreadsheet, putting together an EPK and one-sheet, and how to create an ad mat for image consistency.
  • ARTIST BRANDING. Take your artist branding to the next level during this master class, which covers a wide range of artist branding topics, including logo creation, image management, merchandising, message and story, website creation, media coordination, ad campaigns and social media marketing, photos, and music videos. Master class exercises and offerings also include creating a logo, crafting a message and story backbone for your bio, walking through a number of ad campaign strategies for growing your audience, a list of local photographers and videographers, and resources for website creation.
