Master Classes with Fred Brown

From: $300.00

Host a master class with a pro audio production engineer, multi-instrumentalist (Asthmatic Kitty Records), composer, and founder & owner of Lowly Mountain Banjos.

All of our master classes run approximately 1 hour and feature an infotainment-style lecture (sometimes including audience participation), with opportunities for discussion and Q&A after. Each artist will coordinate with you to make sure that their content will resonate and connect with YOUR audience based on their interests, ages, and skill levels.

  • Our artists are ready to come to you where you plan to host the master class (within the Buffalo area)
  • Virtual master classes are sometimes possible if necessary (to be discussed with the artist)
  • Once a preferred date is requested below, the artist will coordinate the date and time of the master class with you
  • We will also make sure that all of the necessary bases, like like audio/visual equipment, are covered (some of those bases may require additional fees, which will be discussed prior to confirming the booking)

Available Master Classes

Here are some of Fred Brown’s favorite master classes that are currently prepared:

  • OLDTIME BANJO. Explore the tradition, history, and playing techniques of oldtime banjo. During this master class, we will explore the tradition of oldtime banjo by learning one or two tunes, covering the basics of clawhammer and index lead playing styles, and dipping into the history of the banjo as it relates to this fascinating playing style. Playing participants will need to be playing a five-string banjo specifically.
